Advance Manifest Proposals Expected in June

International Trade Daily recently reported that a Customs official said that proposed rules on advance manifest requirements for imports and exports by air, rail, and truck should be published on June 1. Furthermore it was reported that Customs officials are stating that this proposal will more closely follow industry recommendations than the original proposed "strawman" program.

The Treasury Advisory Committee on Commercial Operations of the US Customs Service (COAC) in early April adopted recommendations that call on Customs to scale back significantly its plans to require electronic submission of cargo information in advance of goods being loaded for import or export. The artical said that the proposed rules are expected to be "very close" to the COAC recommendations according to Jay Ahern, assistant Customs Commissioner for field operation.

Corrigan Dispatch Company will keep you updated on the latest developments of this proposal and forward copies of the proposal once released.
